When you are adding photos to your portal via a Photo Album Island, a Conversation, or a Portal Text Editor, resize the photo before uploading. This will prevent having an enormous image appear requiring you to scroll and only seeing small sections of the image at once.
If you resize the image to about 432 x 432 pixels (depending upon whether the image is landscape or portrait layout) will give you a good size for viewing.
Don't worry if you don't have Photoshop to resize your images. Most organizations have a free version of Paint or Microsoft Image Viewer installed on employee computers. If you don't have an editing tool available to you, you can still quickly resize your photo in the Portal Text Editor or the editor in Conversation editor.
Simply upload the image into the PTE or Conversation. While still in the edit mode, select the image and notice a toolbar show at the bottom of the editor. That toolbar shows a height and width of the image itself that allows you to resize it. Be careful to maintain the proportions so your image isn't squished or stretched.
