For larger videos and other media, we have a shared location on our network which replicates from our Operations Center to our branch Domain Controllers every night when there are changes made. Each employee's "L:\" drive is mapped to their local domain controller's "media" folder and in doing so, everyone watching the video from a 'remote' location, are not flooding our network with that additional traffic.

To share this on Passageways, I typically take a screenshot of the video, place the triangle play symbol on the image, and then use that as a hyperlink to the video on the employee's L drive.

I actually just created one of these said video links and attached is the thumbnail I created.

We upload it to a private Youtube and pull it into a PTE.  We also make sure to add rel=0.

We used a PTE on our Home Page to introduce a series of quick, 2-3 minute videos for introducing staff to the new portal.  After that, we found that any how-to videos were too long to post directly to the portal (resulting in long load times and irritated staff), so we now upload videos to our Vimeo account and embed in the portal using a link directly to the Vimeo library in a PTE attached to an image.

We've found that housing all videos in one central place is best so that staff can access all videos from the same place instead of having to hunt them down.  We house these on our Training page as we found it most appropriate to keep there.
