Help Desk 7.5.0 contains mostly speed improvements and UI improvements.
Help Desk Features:
My Help Desk Requests Island- This island has been converted to our new Grid layout. The filters have been changed to our new filter style as seen on Announcements.
My Submitted Help Desk Requests Island - This island has been converted to our new Grid layout. The filters have been changed to our new filter style as seen on Announcements.
Submit Help Desk Requests Island - This island has been updated with our new island styling. The island will be taller than it was previously, so any islands that are a set height will probably have to be adjusted.
Help Desk Attachments - The attachment control has been replaced with the new attachment control from Announcements and Portal Documents. You will no longer have to upload the file and click attach. It is now all done as one step.
Submit Help Desk Requests Island Configure Action - Configuring a Submit Help Desk Request Island has gotten an overhaul. Previously, it was very not obvious that the fields could be dragged and rearranged. We have overhauled the field selector to use the same type of field selector as we do in List Island. That selector will allow you to check or uncheck fields to display as well as reorder them how you like. it will also show which fields are required.
Aria Tags - Aria tags have been added to Help Desk controls to improve accessibility.
Indexes - We have added indexes to various fields in the database to speed up processing for page loads and reports.
Success Pages - We are moving away from having just a page that says Success. These have been changed to modal popups, or just removed when necessary.
Help Desk Reports - Reports saved on Help Desks were not being saved with the correct field information in the table, pointing at different fields and often times different help desks. They were somehow still being run correctly. We have adjusted existing reports and future reports will also now reference the correct fields. This should fix any issues with Reports failing to run or timing out.
To be aware of:
Tickets opening in a new tab - We changed the Help Desk back in 7.4.2 to open tickets in a new tab. Some customers may not see this change until 7.5.0 for some reason.
Structures or Layouts with 3+ columns - The changes to the Submit Help Desk request island do cause the fields to be not responsive to the width of the section. If you have the submit island in a column that is less than 40% of the width of the page, you may get a scroll bar or the fields may fit tight up against the right side. We will be working on that in a 7.5.1 release for Help Desk.
