Want to use the "Winners" feature, but not sure what to do? Let me help you with some Best Practices!
First thing - Clean Up: You can eliminate any message from being "able" to win, for either Sending, Receiving, or both. Why would you want to? Well - some groups don't like it when the CEO wins. Or don't want to 'accidentally' pick the guy who quit yesterday. Or maybe they'd rather not pick the same person two months in a row.
How to: Visit the Reports Tab on the Employee Recognition Administration Island. Change the date range to be the same as the month you are going to be choosing the Winner for. Leave the other fields alone. This will show you a list of ALL Recognition sent for that month.
Now look at the list. Are there any you do NOT want to be a possible winner? (You don't have to tell me why... this is your choice!)
I happen to know that Rachelle JUST won for sending Recognition LAST MONTH. So, let's give someone else a chance. All I have to do is click the Green Check mark to make it a Red X. Now this recognition cannot be selected by the 'random generator' to be a winner for SENDING. (The other column is still green, so Shane might still win for RECEIVING.)
You can do this for as many as you like, for one or both categories.
Second Thing - Decide how many you want to "choose" from: Under the Help and Properties tab, look for where it says "Number of Winners." The default is three, but you can change it.
Why would you want three? Or one? Some groups like to have a few to choose from to select the 'best.' Or maybe you have SO MANY that you want more than one winner! Some groups like to drop it to just one and then do the picking as a "LIVE ON SCREEN EXPERIENCE." (Which I think is actually pretty cool!)
Third Thing - Choose your Winners!: Head over to the Approve Winners tab. You can do the sending or receiving first; doesn't matter. Pick your month, hit "Generate New Winners." Select the one you like (or just the one, if you changed the default to one) and Approve!
