OS EDU - Dear CSM - I'm very excited to link to Tabs in 6.2 - but HOW? Follow
Question :
I’m so excited about being able to create links to individual tabs on Tabbed Islands! I was watching the Feb 2019 Off Road “You Matter!” presentation. I realized Cameron showed us the feature, but he didn’t tell us HOW to establish the links. I was playing in our Sandbox and didn’t see any of the links change as I switched from Tab to Tab so there must be a magic wand to wave somewhere :)
Answer :
I’m so glad you were able to attend – aren’t those fun? We love to get to share stuff!! Ask your CSM for the recording if you’d like to share it elsewhere or review. We actually exceeded our seating capacity for this one!! That’s never happened – they’re going to have to get us “large room” status, haha!!
There *is* a magic wand!! Okay – not really. 😊 You just need the URL of the tab for to create a hyperlink, and then you can use that anywhere you would normally use one!
Two easy steps…
Step One :
Visit the page that the tabbed island is on, and select the tab you want to link to (see how mine is slightly more lit... you can see that’s the tab I want.
Step Two :
Right click that tab and “Copy Link Address”
Paste that wherever you need it!
Pro Tip One : You are technically linking to the island *IN* that tab, not the tab itself. Deleting the island or the tab will break the link. You can, of course, make as many changes to the contents of the island as you wish!
Pro Tip Two : If the tabbed island also lives on a public page, make sure you link from the PUBLIC page, not the root level page.
(Many thank yous to Jeanette at Advantage for the question!)
