An image map is simply an image containing clickable “hotspots” that link users from the image to another page (inside the portal or to another website).
Whether it is one image with multiple hot spots or individual buttons, you don’t need to be a graphic designer or a coder to create an image map. It’s very simple to do in the Portal Text Editor in your portal.
Step 1: Upload the image to the Portal Text Editor
Option 1: Select the image and click the Image Map Editor Button
Option 2: Right click the image and select Image Map Editor
Step 3: In the Image Map Editor wizard select Area Shape as Rectangle or Circle and click New Area
Step 4: Drag and Adjust the shape over which location you would like the Hot Link to
Step 5: Fill in the URL field with the link you would like the Hot Link to direct to
Step 6: Choose your Target option
Step 7: The Alt Text field is basically a Tool tip. Fill this in if you would like a fly out text when the image is hovered over
Step 8: Click Update Area
Step 9: Repeat steps if the image has multiple links
Step 10: Click OK
Publish the Portal Text Editor when complete
